Exciting changes to the 2025 CYCA Racing Calendar

Exciting changes are coming to the CYCA racing calendar, bringing more excitement, flexibility and opportunities to get on the water!

Summer Short Offshore Series

Introducing the Summer Short Offshore Series – this new series replaces the Club Marine Ocean Pointscore, Short Ocean Pointscore, and Short Haul Pointscore, consolidating the racing into a single, diverse Series.

With 11 races held fortnightly from September to March, the series will feature a mix of five coastal windward/leeward races and six passage races. The series will be open to Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker boats with multiple divisions each race day.

The Series will also have a double handed division to provide a training and racing platform for our double handed fleet.
For added flexibility, the series will have:

🔥 Spring Subseries – All races before Christmas
🍂 Autumn Subseries – All races after Christmas
🌬 Windward/Leeward Subseries – Five high-intensity W/L races
🌊 Passage Subseries – Six tactical passage races

Night Harbour Racing Series

The Short Haul Pointscore night races are being expanded into a brand-new Night Harbour Series – a six-race, non-spinnaker series held once a month on Friday evenings from September to March.

This dedicated night racing series will start at 1845 hours and consist of evening passage races on Sydney Harbour. The perfect training ground for overnight offshore passages, or a fun end to the work week!

This dedicated twilight racing series will bring you the best of twilight Sydney Harbour sailing

Grand Prix Racing Series

We are also introducing two weekends of dedicated windward/leeward racing for TP52s, and other interested classes. These weekends will consist of up to six windward/leeward races, offering tight one-design and class racing.

This series will give teams the perfect opportunity to fine-tune their performance outside of their typical inshore/coastal calendars.

Extra Information

Competitor favourites, including the Sydney Pittwater Passage Weekend and Double Handed Coastal Rally will remain on the calendar. The Sydney Pittwater Passage Weekend will become a standalone event, open to Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker entries. The Double Handed Coastal Rally will remain a separate event, taking the double handed fleet, north or south over two days.

Our inshore series, including the Monday and Wednesday Twilights, LGT Crestone Winter and Women’s Winter Series and Spring Series will remain unchanged. The Sydney Habour Women’s Keelboat Series is being expanded, and will once again consist over 6 races from September to March.
