Congratulations to CYCA member Tim Wilson whose yacht “EL ORO” has just finished 3rd in its division (IRC Division 6) in last week’s Rolex Middle Sea race.
Despite a broken gooseneck on the rugged first night of the 600 mile race she was always in the top 3 on corrected time in her division throughout the race.
“EL ORO” was the oldest yacht in the race and the sister-ship to the famous Whitbread round-the-world racer “KRITER” , built for Baron Bich as his cruising yacht and launched in 1975.
The yacht will now spend the northern winter in the Mediterranean where Tim is intending to race next year’s classic circuit and with possible plans to do next year’s Rolex Fastnet Race.
