Director Sam Haynes takes early lead in Noakes Summer 7s Series

The Noakes Summer 7s Series was underway last Tuesday evening with Director Sam Haynes and his Celestial team shooting ahead with a great start in Round 1.

The Noakes 7s Summer Series consists of four rounds held on Tuesday afternoons in March with a maximum of four races conducted each round.

Tuesday’s Round 1 saw three races held over the course of the afternoon with Tim Ryan’s team James 007 drawing first blood in Race 1, relegating Celestial to second place. Celestial was not long off the top of the podium, however, regrouping to win both Race 2 and Race 3, handing them Round 1 victory.

After coming third in Race 1, defending champion Reg Lord and his Juno team also rallied to find second place in both remaining races, enough to hand them second place for Round 1.

Alongside the win in the first race, James 007 managed a fourth and third in the final races respectively, giving the team third place for Round 1.

A total of seven teams are registered to take on the 2021 Noakes Summer 7s Series with the field rounded out by Will McVeagh’s team (fourth), Bryan Northcote’s team About time (fifth), Glenn Bartlett’s team (sixth), and Josh Alexander’s team Noakes Group (seventh, DNC).
