YSA Alumni Murray Jones has won the Zhik Australian eSailing CYCA Club Championship, and will be represent the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia at the Zhik Australian eSailing NSW State Championship, hosted by Australian Sailing, next weekend.
Over 100 Clubs and Classes from across Australia have registered to compete in the Zhik Australian eSailing Challenge.
Over the weekend, the CYCA hosted their Club Championship, which saw 14 Members compete. Hot favourite not doubt was UBS Wild Thing Ben Lavis, who last month took out the virtual CYCA eChampion of Champions regatta. However, this weekend he faced stiff competition from Kellett eShield Champion Murray Jones.
Over the 5 races, Murray remained as consistent as ever, never posting worse than a 4th even when one competitor tried to take him out. Jones posted 3 wins from the 5 races, and now next weekend will take on champions from 36 other NSW Clubs.
3 qualifying rounds will take place on Saturday 23 May, before the Gold Fleet racing finals will take place on Sunday 24 May. The winner of the NSW State Championship will then qualify for the Australian National Championship on Thursday 28 May.
