Top 10 finishes for Antipodes and Wings in New Caledonia Groupama Race

Congratulations to CYCA Members Geoff Hill, Bryan Collis (both Antipodes), Ian Edwards, Helen Buckland, Janease Graham and Elyse Guevara (all Wings) on completing the 2022 New Caledonia Groupama Race.

Geoff’s Santa Cruz 72, Antipodes, won Monohull Line Honours, finishing second over the line behind the Australian Drew 15 catamaran, Rushour.

Antipodes completed the 654 nautical mile circumnavigation of New Caledonia in 3 days, 15 hours, 51 minutes and 28 seconds, finishing sixth on IRC.

Bryan crewed on Antipodes, as did father-son duo Paul and Zack Heyes, who were on Stefan Racing for the 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Ian’s Dehler 46, Wings, finished eighth over the line in 4 days, 10 hours, 33 minutes and 33 seconds.

It was certainly a performance to be proud of for Wings, who finished inside the top 10 on both IRC (8th) and ORC (7th).

Ian’s crew featured CYCA Members Helen Buckland, Janease Graham and Elyse Guevara.

Wings will head back to Sydney in preparation for the 2022 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race.
