With the return of lockdown to Greater Sydney and beyond, we’re bringing back our ever-popular “Evening with” sessions. Life Member Peter Shipway has been interviewing experts on a range of interesting topics. The interviews are conducted online so you can watch them from the comfort of your own home.
Life Member Peter Shipway recently interviewed fellow CYCA Life Member David Kellett AM.
David has been an outstanding contributor to the CYCA and the sport of sailing, both in Australia and around the world.
He has made an indelible mark on the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race over the years. He won both the Tattersall Cup and John H Illingworth Challenge Cup as skipper of Sovereign in 1987 – the most notable of his wins across 46 campaigns in the Great Race.
David has led the Rolex Sydney Hobart Radio Relay Vessel team since 2000. He is a longstanding member of the Rolex Sydney Hobart and Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore Race Committees, and is the Chair of the CYCA’s Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Trust.
His contributions both on and off the water were recognised last year with Australian Sailing Life Membership, just the 12th person in the organisation’s history to be given that honour.
