What a treat to see a showcase of some of our finest classic yachts once again take to the harbour for the club’s annual Great Veterans Race on Saturday.
It goes to show age is no barrier when it comes to our boats, and our sailors!
Light wind prevailed for most of the race – 7 – 12kt SE on an incoming SE swell, but enough for some fine sailing to be displayed from 27 entries across the three Divisions.
The Classic Knud Reimers 61’ Fidelis, skippered by Nigel Stoke was victorious in the Classics Division 1, Alan Buchanan 37’ Vashti Design Valhalla (skipper Tony Burgess) won Division 2, and the Farr 42 Wild Rose took out IOR-Era Yacht, skippered by Gordon Smith.
Congratulations to all the Placegetters.
