A classic collection for 2022 Great Veterans Race

Some of the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race’s most historic boats are set to compete in the 2022 Great Veterans Race this Saturday 14 May.

23 boats are currently entered for the popular annual race, including three-time Tattersall Cup winner Love & War (the S&S 47 skippered by Simon Kurts), Annie Lawrence’s Halvorsen 36 Solveig (the 1953 Sydney Hobart Line Honours and 1954 Overall winner), and two-time Line Honours winner Margaret Rintoul (Bruce Gould).

An IOR division has been added for the 2022 Great Veterans Race, open to any yacht with a launch date after 1975 and prior to 1991 that has competed in at least one Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

That division features 1990 Sydney Hobart IOR winner Sagacious V (David Hundt), 1993 IOR winner Wild Oats (Brett Eagle) and Bruce Dover’s Warwick 44 EZ Street.

The non-spinnaker race will begin at 1200hrs, with a pursuit start.

Entries are open until 1200hrs Thursday 12 May.
