Willow, Sea Change, Legende and Aurora II victorious in Wednesday Twilight finale

Willow, Sea Change, Legende and Aurora II claimed the divisional wins in the final race of the 2021/22 Wednesday Twilight Series.

More than 40 boats took to Sydney Harbour in 12-15 knots from the SSE.

Jim Cooney’s Volvo 70 Willow breezed around the course in just over 47 minutes to comfortably win Division A, from Craig Neil’s TP52 Quest and Geoff Lavis’ Inglis/Dovell 50 UBS Wild Thing.

Neil O’Hare skippered the Sydney 36 Sea Change to the Division B victory, 93 seconds ahead of David Chesters’ Payne 38 It Happens on corrected time. David Klees’ Beneteau First 35 White Noise rounded out the podium.

Michael Earwaker’s Jeanneau DS43 Legende claimed her second Division C win of the year, with Timothy Atkins’ Beneteau First 40.7 Soindika second and Plym (Stephen Girdis) third.

Division D was won by Marcus Gillezeau’s Jeanneau So36i Aurora II, as John Brennan’s Beneteau Oceanis 38 Dancing with the Wind finished second. Just three seconds separated third-placed Bruce Druery’s Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36 Liaison and Peter O’Brien’s Beneteau Oceanis 40 Lumiere on corrected time.

Congratulations to all placegetters throughout the Wednesday Twilight Series.

The divisional winners from each race now go into the draw to win our GRAND PRIZE – a crew party and rum tasting at Brix Distillery, as well as a 5LT barrel of Brix Barrel Aged Rum, with custom labels.

The lucky winner will be drawn at the Summer Season Prizegiving on Friday 29 April.
