Race Officer, Ken Burt said, “it was a perfect breeze so why not keep going and get as many flights in as we can.” The race committee, umpires and repair boat did very well to get the 14 flights in with a reasonable amount of breakages throughout the day.
Emma May (RPAYC) and Finn Tapper (CYCA) had a solid day today and will be the teams to watch moving into the next round robin.
Tapper and crew posted a 5-2 scorecard to sit in 3rd place after the first round robin.
Unfortunately, a breakage in their second race saw a 100m lead over RPAYC evaporate after their outhaul exploded in 22knots around the bottom mark. The boys tried to hold on but unfortunately the extra drag was proved to much!
Mitch Evans and fellow RSYS sailor Angus Olding, who is sailing with Rozenauers, had taken ill since yesterday with the dreaded illness that has continued to infiltrate from Nespresso last week. This meant Evans lost all his races today, but if the team is feeling better tomorrow they will hope to sail and climb the ranks.
Tomorrow it is hoped that most if not all of the second round robin will be completed, however the forecast is looking a bit lighter.
