Last night, Thursday 22 December, was the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race Launch. The JANUS et Cie Sydney Race Village lit up as guests arrived at the event, with Mumm Champagne and Peroni on hand. The Tattersall's Cup was on display, and the evening ended in the annual Associates Committee Charity Hamper Raffle, raising $3,000 for Angel Flight.
Among the guests invited were CYCA Commodore John Markos, RYCT Commodore Matthew Johnston, the Hon Gabrielle Upton, Attorney General for NSW, Rolex Australia's Louise Hutchins, the Deputy Head of Mission Embassy of Switzerland Daniel Haener, Mayor of Woollahra Toni Zelter, Australian Sailing President Matt Allen and RAN Commodore Lee Goddard.
MC Gordon Bray conducted an individual Q & A session with some skippers of yachts including 2015 RSHYR Overall Winner Paul Clitheroe of Balance, Janos Grander of Matador, Joe Mele of Triple Lindy, Nigel Stoke of Fidelis, Ludde Ingvall of CQS and Shane Kearns of Komatsu Azzuro.
The CYCA Associates Committee raised $3,000 for Angel Flight, a volunteer service providing air transport to major hospitals and medical centres for patients from remote locations. The Associates Committee sincerely thanks members and guests who bought tickets in the raffle for their support.
