With the Blue Water Pointscore Series finished for 2017, it’s time to level the playing field and see who can be crowned the ‘Champion of Champions’ when the boats are equal.

On Saturday 21st April, the annual Captain Cook Cruises Top Jocks Regatta will see the Summer Series Pointscore place-getters select their crews and compete against each other aboard the CYCA Youth Sailing Academy's identical fleet of Elliott 7's.

The regatta will consist of six fleet races testing the crews knowledge and experience while taking away any advantage they have with the familiarity of their usual boats.

This year brings together a diverse range of teams from IRC Offshore Champions all the way to J70 sports boat competitors. Included in the line-up are a number of previous winners including Tony Kirby and Richard Williams who will be looking to re-claim the title.

The list of competitors are as follows:

  • Ron Forster – Ariel
  • Richard Williams – Calibre
  • Matt Wilkinson – Foreign Affair
  • Andy Kearnon – Koa
  • Tony Kirby – Patrice
  • Greg Mason – Sinewave
  • Basil Diethelm – Sumatra
  • Reg Lord - Juno

Racing will be held in the vicinity of Rushcutters Bay with the first warning signal at 10:30am. A 10 knot southerly is forecast which is sure to keep the tacticians on edge.
